It is one

One of the core functions of the

WASH Coordination

coordination platform is to “inform

the

HC/HCT’s strategic

decision-making”,

decisions”, by providing them by providing them a clear analysis and prioritization of WASH humanitarian needs.

Even in the initial stage of an emergency, a large amount of secondary data is usually available, that can be collected and analysed by WCC. The WASH coordination platform can also be directly coordinating primary data collection, for instance after an L3 sudden onset emergency. In a more stabilized context or protracted emergencies, WCC must set up a system to get regular access to harmonized assessment data from partners covering all affected area and targeted groups, called a WASH Assessment Framework. It may be relevant to train partners on assessment framework or data collection methodologies. What are the objectives

 .

The WASH coordination platform will first set up an assessment strategy and develop a list of core indicators standard for the response to define the type of data required harmonize the way data is collected. The assessment strategy relies on two main sources of data that need to be gathered and analyzed throughout the HPC: secondary data (i.e. data collected by actors such as national governments, development organizations, other clusters, etc.) and primary data (i.e. data collected by or for the coordination platform itself).

  • Consolidate WASH assessments data to inform the setting of priorities.
  • Coordinate primary data collection when required

    titleGWC Minimum Requirements for coordination
    • Standard WASH indicators have been agreed by cluster/sector partners and have been integrated into various multi-sector data collection initiatives (DTM, CCCM tracking, SMART Surveys).
    • There is a cluster/sector mechanism or protocol in place to collect assessment data from partners.
    • Analysis highlighting geographic or programmatic gaps is regularly updated, easily accessible, and discussed during coordination meetings.
