Coordinate allocation of WASH funds with donors

The WASH Cluster coordinator must be in contact with current or potential donors funding the WASH response. He/she should regularly communicate them response priorities, updates, and report possible funds duplication or gaps. In extreme cases, and if all other means have been tried without success, coordination platform can also contact donors in case their implementing partners are reluctant to collaborate with coordination platform or other partners.

Some donors as a requirement to their partners that the proposal strategy should be first discussed with coordination platform, some will be less focused on it. All donors must be made aware of WASH It is a good practice to clearly communicate with donors the WASH sector/cluster strategy so they can verify it is reflected in the proposal submitted by partners, or ensure their funding strategy is aligned with the WASH Operation Response Plan. Large emergency donors usually require their partners to discuss their proposal strategy with coordination platform before submitting it. 

Support partners' proposals development

Depending on their time and context, it is a good practice for WASH sector/cluster coordinator must be to stay in close contact with and available for the partners to ensure their proposals (pooled funds and others) are aligned with defined response strategy and provide them with advice when needed.
